The Los Angeles Times reported on May 12, 2011 that Facebook enlisted the aid of a public relations company to provide stories negative to Google.   I will very honest in stating that I have never understood  the core business of either Google or Facebook.  Those more knowledgeable than I (a substantial number) tell me that it has to do with advertising.   This got me to thinking about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy;specifically Zaphod Beeblebrox's visit to Frogstar B.  But, then really it was not the fairy cake, the bodiless mind or the Total Perspective Vortex on Frogstar B were important but rather the history of the people of Frogstar B.  The number of shoe stores on Frogstar B had increased slowly and with more shoe stores, more shoes were made of increasingly poor quality requiring the people of Frogstar B to buy even more shoes.  In what the late Douglas Adams called the "Shoe Event Horizon," it economically impossible to build anything other than shoe stores.   The result was collapse and ruin and the few survivors took an oath never to walk on the surface of the planet again and evolved into some ugly birds.   I am sure that any comparison of the events on Frogstar B to the current status of global finance may be a figment of my imagination.
